C-Mac has concern with how latest Scott Boras loss impacts Juan Soto sweepstakes for Yankees

Gerrit Cole is reportedly staying with the Yankees on his original contract, meaning the ace opted out but eventually agreed to stay on the contract he has just opted out from on Saturday.

Chris McMonigle believes that the turn of events indicates that Cole tried to get the Yanks to add on a fifth year onto his remaining deal, but Brian Cashman didn’t blink, and Cole was forced to stick with his current contract.

Which would be another loss for Scott Boras, Cole’s agent.

“It’s a little bizarre what happened with Gerrit Cole and Scot Boras, who has been taking Ls,” C-Mac said. “Scott Boras was the super-agent for forever. You got Scott Boras, you were gonna get the best deal possible...but over the last year and a half, he has taken more Ls. Last year was the offseason of his discontent. Every single player he tried to get signed, it was a disaster.
Bellinger, Snell, Chapman, Montgomery, all of them didn’t get anywhere near what they thought they were gonna get.

“Even against Brian Cashman, who can’t get a win when the Yankees make the World Series...the great Scott Boras is taking Ls. That’s what happened with this situation. He played a staring contest with Brian Cashman and the Yankees, and Brian Cashman didn’t blink.”

While the latest Boras hiccup is a win for the Yankees, C-Mac is worried it could complicate the Bombers’ chances of bringing back Juan Soto, as Boras could now be dead set on getting Soto to the highest bidder, knowing his best chance of getting a much-needed win will be by capitalizing on one of the biggest free agents he has ever had.

“They’ve been gearing up for this moment for year, and Boras knows the exact type of free agent he has,” C-Mac said. “My biggest fear as a Yankee fan is that Boras is fed up with the Ls.”
