C-Mac unloads on caller who rips Yankee fans for wanting Shohei Ohtani

One angry caller wanted no part of Shohei Ohtani on the Yankees, seemingly implying that the Yanks would be better off with lesser-known players and a team put together “the right way.”

C-Mac was ready to tear that take down quickly, and went off on the idea that the Yankees wouldn’t be better after adding the best player on the planet.

“You want David Eckstein out of retirement? You want guys who are a bunch of good bunters?” C-Mac said. “Who should the Yankees bring on? Who guarantees you a World Series? What’s your point, you want to keep the money in the owner’s pocket?

“Who’s winning championships, sir? Tell me how you guarantee it? Should the Braves have cut [Ronald] Acuna because they won the World Series without him? You said great players don’t win World Series.”

The caller then fired back by saying C-Mac must have preferred a superstar like Alex Rodriguez on the Yankees over Derek Jeter, who filled an entire hand with championship rings. Of course, Jeter had a special group around him as well, and Rodriguez, the superior player, did carry the Yankees to their last championship despite previous playoff flops.

“Of course you would, because A-Rod is the better player,” C-Mac said. “If you think A-Rod was on the team in the 90s that they wouldn’t win…it was more than just Jeter.

“If you think you get a bunch of role players to win a championship, you’re wrong. You build the best team you can and you hope they perform in the postseason. That’s it. Steve Pearce won a World Series MVP for the Red Sox in 2018. He was a journeyman who couldn’t stay on a team…you think the Red Sox knew what they had?”
