C-Mac: Will Aaron Boone get credit for moving Alex Verdugo to leadoff?

Alex Verdugo showed signs of life in his old home of Fenway Park over the weekend, picking up seven hits in 15 at-bats with three doubles to help the Yanks grab a much-needed series win over the rival Red Sox.

Verdugo, moved to the leadoff spot for the series in Boston, helped set the tone on Sunday with a double off the Green Monster in what would become a three-run first inning for the Yankees, continuing momentum from Saturday’s dramatic win in extra innings.

C-Mac wonders if Aaron Boone will get any praise from the fanbase for helping awaken Verdugo’s dormant bat.

“I wonder if anyone’s gonna give him credit for hitting Verdugo leadoff,” C-Mac said. “We kill every decision the man makes, and we kill every decision in the lineup…I’m sure nobody is gonna give him credit for putting Verdugo leadoff, but it changed the lineup this week.”

The move could be big for the Yankees, as Verdugo was thriving at the plate to start the season when the Bombers ran out to the best record in baseball. Both he and Torres have looked better of late, and the Yanks need that to continue.

“Verdugo, Torres, and Volpe need to hit, or this lineup is gonna look like the meek, terrible lineup it’s been for the last month and a half, because those guys are key guys in it,” C-Mac said. “You can see the importance. We know what Judge and Soto can do.”
