C-Mac: Yankees' handling of Jasson Dominguez is indefensible
Jasson Dominguez went deep again for the RailRiders in Triple-A on Thursday night, as he continues a torrid stretch in which he has logged multi-hit games in 10 of his last 16 contests.
Thursday’s homer came in his third at-bat of the night, which was preceded by two singles, as the Yankees’ top prospect looks locked in at the plate.
Still, he was not called up when rosters expanded earlier this week, and C-Mac says it is absolutely indefensible that The Martian remains in Scranton.
“There is literally zero benefit to the Yankees keeping him in Triple-A,” C-Mac said. “They are only doing it because they, for some reason, believe Verdugo is better for this team than him. That’s the only reason they’re doing it.
“It makes absolutely no sense. I would almost rather it be about [service time] manipulation...because at least it’s an argument. We might hate it to think that the Yankees aren’t all in...but at least it’s an answer.”
Verdugo has struggled mightily since May, and was ripped by fans after slowly trotting to first base on a ground ball on Wednesday night, but he remains the starting left fielder, and C-Mac says that decision cannot be defended.
“There’s nothing behind this other than they want to play Verdugo instead, and that is illogical,” C-Mac said. “You can’t convince me that it makes sense.
“Every day he’s not on this roster, they’re flat-out wrong...they’re actively working against their own best interest every day he’s not here.”
