C-Mac has not been shy in his desire for the Yankees to explore a Mike Trout trade, but if Juan Soto is made available, that would be his top priority.
Even if it means trading hyped prospect Jasson Dominguez, who took the fanbase by storm with his torrid start to his MLB career before tearing his UCL.
“My first option is to go get Juan Soto, but now I need a center fielder because I just traded Dominguez, and I probably need an infielder because I traded [Oswald] Peraza,” C-Mac said. That’s what it’s gonna take to get Juan Soto. I’m on board for that, because he’s the better player, he’s younger, he’s left handed, he fits this team better than Mike Trout does. You are going to have to trade Peraza and Dominguez…I do what I can to get Soto. You’re gonna have to pay him $400 million and lose some great prospects.
“If Dominguez comes anywhere near this player - he’s only four years older than Dominguez - if he’s anywhere near Juan Soto, the Yankees would be thrilled.”
Soto is a free agent after next season, and was traded to the Padres after the Nationals decided that the young star would not sign an extension before free agency. If San Diego offers an extension and gets turned down, he could wind up on the trading block, and C-Mac says the Yankees have to be ready to pounce.
“You can sign him to a 12-year deal and have him three years younger than when Judge is at the end of his nine-year deal,” C-Mac said. “He’s ridiculously young to have already accomplished what he’s accomplished.
“He’s an absolute stud who plays every day…so yeah, you trade Dominguez. You trade whatever it takes to bring Juan Soto in here.”
