Craig Carton joined Jerry Recco and Willie Colon on Friday morning to talk about announcing the Yankees’ upcoming series against the Rangers beginning Friday night in the Bronx.
Craig, who will be alongside Suzyn Waldman in the WFAN booth all weekend, will be at Yankee Stadium bright and early to prepare for his debut in the Yankees radio booth.
“I’ll be there at 2:30, my friend,” Craig said. “I just want to do what whoever sits in that seat normally does.
“I guess the locker room is open until 3:30, then you’re on the field and get to talk to the guys, and Aaron Boone has a press conference typically at 4:00. Then I’m gonna go up to the booth and sit down in the seat that only few men or women have ever gotten to sit in, and fill out my Evan Roberts scorecard at home, that I made myself at home.”
The weather forecast isn’t great, which could open the window for Craig to call a doubleheader at some point this weekend, but whatever happens, Craig is ready to take the seat once occupied by the legendary John Sterling and call a big series for the Yanks.
“I’m excited. It’s gonna be great,” Craig said. “This is gonna be the first baseball game I watch to completion in years.”
