Evan: Yankees are better set up to win World Series than any other year in Aaron Judge era

As Aaron Judge returns to the Yankees spring training lineup, Evan says fans are being too clouded by the concern over Judge’s health to realize that their team is in as good a position to end their World Series drought than it has been since Judge broke into the bigs.

“I look at this Yankee team, in my humble opinion, and I see a Yankee team that has a better chance of winning a World Series more so than any other Yankee team I’ve witnessed in the Aaron Judge era,” Evan said. “Since the Aaron Judge era began back in 2017, how many years did you go in thinking, ‘we got the team’? this season, they added the best bat they’ve added in a long time in Juan Soto. Despite the injury questions around this team, I look at this team and I think I feel better about their chances of winning it all this year than I have in the last decade.

“I don’t know if I get the sense that Yankee fans feel that way…I get the sense that Yankee fans are afraid and negative, and I don’t see why.”

If Judge were to miss time to injury, the Yanks would still have a superstar bat in the middle of their lineup thanks to the addition of Soto, which Evan says makes all the difference when assessing their chances of winning a championship.

“For the last few years, the Yankees were as reliant on Aaron Judge as any team could be reliant on a player. That’s not healthy,” Evan said. “The Yankees can lose Aaron Judge for a couple of weeks and not sink. They are better. They have insured themselves…you went out and got the best bat humanly possible to get in Juan Soto.”
