Roughly an hour away from Fenway Park, at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton, Massachusetts, the Brockton Rox of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League boasts one of the most improbable and impressive collection of family ties to past baseball legends.

Nicknamed “The Sons” the Rox currently have the sons of Gary Sheffield, Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz, Pedro Martinez, and Keith Foulke on their sons-of-star-studded roster.

Jaden Sheffield, Manny Ramirez Jr., D’Angelo Ortiz, Pedro Martinez Jr., and Kade Foulke make up the group, who draw a crowd and were put into the spotlight after being featured by ESPN's Joon Lee this week.

Their fathers are forever tied in baseball history thanks to the Yankees’ historic collapse in the 2004 ALCS. Ortiz, Ramirez, Martinez, and Foulke were all on the Red Sox roster that won four straight to reach the World Series and end the Curse of the Bambino, while Sheffield was on the wrong side of history with the Yanks that October.

Now, their sons play together in the summer league that gives collegiate athletes a chance to play when school is no longer in session.

The Rox are in last place in the FCBL with an 8-19 record, but the recognizable fathers of “The Sons” can be seen at games regularly. As a result, the team told ESPN that attendance has more than doubled this season.
