Joe Kelly fires back at Aaron Boone over World Series trash talk: 'He's just so hurt'

Joe Kelly continues to keep his offseason of trash talk going, doubling - perhaps tripling - down in his trolling of the Yankees and their performance in the World Series.

The free agent pitcher and former Dodger once again went in on Aaron Boone and the Yanks in the latest episode of the Baseball Isn’t Boring podcast, responding to Boone commenting that most of the players talking trash were ones that didn’t contribute much at all to LA’s championship run.

“He’s just so hurt. It’s so sad,” Kelly said. “When your fearless leader has fear, it’s a little tough to see. Feelings are hurt.”

Kelly’s response continues the war of words that has gone on this offseason, as he hasn’t hid his enjoyment of watching New York melt down in the field in the infamous fifth inning of the clinching game five for the Dodgers, just when it appeared that the Yanks might win two in a row and send the series back to LA.

The disastrous fifth inning for the Yankees was capped off by Gerrit Cole not covering first base when doing so would have gotten him out of a bases loaded, no out jam, and Kelly made sure to note that in his latest comments as well.

“I wonder how ground balls are going. PFPs, ground balls, the little things,” Kelly said.

“I got [my son] Knox’s nine-year-old travel team, first move after a ground ball to the right side, all of them are breaking. Every single one of them. Kids that pitch once a week know to get over. They’re nine! Not one of them forgets to get over. I promise you. I know who does forget to get over, and it’s not the nine-year-olds.”
