The Dodgers continue to stock up on star talent, recently landing Japanese phenom Roki Sasaki while signing Tanner Scott, the best reliever left on the market, to a four-year deal.
The reigning World Series champions have gotten even better, also signing Blake Snell while bringing back Teoscar Hernandez and Tommy Edman, which has left many baseball fans clamoring for a salary cap to curtail Los Angeles’ spending. But Keith says the Dodgers are playing within the rules, and other teams can do the same, but LA has simply become too attractive of a destination.
“They’re not doing anything illegal or wrong!” Keith said. “They’re signing everyone because they’re in beautiful Ls Angeles, they have the best player in the game, and they defer money...it’s a loophole that they’re exploiting, and there’s nothing we can do about it.”
The Yanks had their chance to win a title before the Dodgers stacked their roster even more, and now, Keith is worried that the nightmare fifth inning in game five could be the lasting image of this Bombers core if they will spend the rest of their championship window failing to get by a Dodgers team that looks poised to try and become the first MLB dynasty since the Bombers in the late 90s.
“We’ll be laughed at for that until we finally win a World Series,” Keith said. “That is a scary nightmare right now, that we do not as Yankee fans get to see Gerrit Cole, Giancarlo Stanton, and Aaron Judge win a World Series, as their window is closing.”
