With pitchers and catchers a week away from reporting to camp, Keith says the Yankees still need more in the starting rotation given the question marks behind Gerrit Cole.
“I can’t go into the season saying Rodon is gonna bounce back,” Keith said. “I have no idea. Stroman, is he gonna be able to handle it here in New Yok with the fans if he has a bad start…or he’s gonna be able to hold up because he was hurt last year.
“Nestor Cortes, that’s my guy, but he had one All-Star year and was hurt all of last season. To think these guys are coming back to pitch a full year after pitching half of last year is negligent. They have to get another arm.”
Whether it’s Blake Snell or a trade, Keith says there needs to be another established arm in the rotation to bring more security to a group that is a couple bad breaks away from being a wasteland.
“It can’t be ‘Clarke Schmidt is going to take a step forward,’” Keith said. “You don’t know that. There are too many questions in the rotation.”
