As Juan Soto officially becomes a Met, Keith McPherson says his villain status in the Bronx rises.
And after Soto told reporters at his introductory press conference that he hasn’t spoken to any of his former Yankee teammates since the season ended, Keith says that villain status has already reached a new level.
“Man, that’s telling,” Keith said, noting that Soto didn’t seem to care about being a Yankee as soon as the World Series was over.
“Juan Soto was ready with his hat turned backwards, talking about how he’s open for business, he’s available.”
Even if Soto didn’t fully embrace the pinstripes during a season in which they reached the Fall Classic, Keith can’t believe that he didn’t at least talk to Gleyber Torres, who seemed to be close friends with Soto from the time he arrived in the Bronx, or Aaron Judge, his fellow superstar who won the MVP, yet apparently didn’t hear from Soto after winning the award.
“We just know what it is, bro. call a spade a spade,” Keith said. “You spent all that time around Aaron Judge and Gleyber Torres? That’s your man...you mean to tell me you didn’t talk to Gleyber Torres? Aaron Judge thought he was gonna talk to you during the MVP awards ceremony. He won the MVP, you finished in third, you just dodged all that?”
Soto was beloved by Yankee fans and the Bleacher Creatures in right field, and Keith says it is going to be a lot different when Soto returns next year.
“What do you think happens when Juan Soto comes back to Yankee Stadium?” Keith said. “There’s a thin line between love and hate, and that line was crossed.
“It’s on forever. My hater energy is rising.”
