For UConn’s dynamic tournament hero, Braylon Mullins, the NBA can wait.
The 20-year-old chose his birthday on Saturday to announce he’ll play a second season in Storrs.
Mullins, who stunned the nation with a 35-foot jumper to upset top-seeded Duke in the East Regional Final, would have been a first round pick in the upcoming NBA Draft.
Instead, he’ll enjoy numerous marketing opportunities and another shot at a national championship.
His choice solidifies Dan Hurley’s roster at a tumultuous time, as the transfer portal has led to key departures, Jaylin Stewart being the latest. Stars Alex Karaban and Tarris Reed used up their eligibility.
Mullins joins Silas Demary, Jr. to form a dynamic, two-way backcourt, potentially without Solo Ball, who is still considering his future.
The Huskies made another key acquisition Saturday, getting a commitment from former Duke forward Nikolas Khamenia, who, like Mullins, will be a sophomore during the 2026-27 season.
