Patriots superstar A.J. Brown is returning to practice after four weeks on injured reserve, head coach Mike Vrabel shared Wednesday.

Brown suffered a high ankle sprain in the season-opener against the Seattle Seahawks. He recorded 26 yards on three catches prior to going down.

"Definitely excited to get him back," captain and safety Kevin Byard said, and called him "wide receiver one."

The veteran wide receiver has been seen a handful of times in the Patriots' locker room during his time rehabbing his injury, and he has been observed to be in high spirits while seemingly testing the strength of his ankle.

New England traded a 2028 first-round draft pick and a 2027 fifth-round draft pick for Brown, who had requested a trade from the Philadelphia Eagles.

Brown began his career with Vrabel in Tennessee in 2019. He's had four consecutive seasons with more than 1,000 yards.

The Patriots face a divisional foe in the New York Jets Sunday at 1 p.m.
