Thursday afternoon, talk of the importance of Monday Night Football vs. Sunday Night Football came up on the Merloni and Fauria Show.

The talk spurred on Christian Fauria to tell the story of when he was playing for Seattle and Joe Theismann was part of the Sunday Night Football crew.

Well, it was something ...

Here was Fauria telling the tale to co-hosts Lou Merloni and Andy Hart:

"When I was playing earlier in my career Sunday Night Football sucked. Nobody wanted to do it. It was ESPN. It was usually Joe Theismann. He would come to our locker room and he would walk around naked … True story.

"When Joe Theismann would show up to do Sunday Night games, I remember he would shower and hang out in the locker room and he would get into the hot tub buck naked and he would walk around buck naked like he was playing. Like it was 1984.

"We used to do this thing where, hand to God true, we started blowing a whistle. Somebody was in charge of blowing the whistle to alert the rest of the locker room that Joe Theismann was coming into the locker room naked, because he was naked. He thought he was playing. I can’t believe I never told you this.

"We always had a rule that you had to wear shorts in the hot tub. Older guys, they would go in naked. But as the younger guys came up we were like, ‘No, everybody has to wear shorts.’ We would call them, they would call them grays. He would roll in and we would be in there and here he comes swinging back and forth getting into the hot tub buck naked. What are you doing in there? Then, no towel, walk around. Then, let’s say Rick Mirer, sitting down at his locker and here comes Joe buck naked. This is not an exaggeration. I’m not making this up. The whistle would blow and everybody would run and hide and laugh their asses off."
