Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo confirmed in his press conference on Wednesday morning that center David Andrews will undergo season-ending surgery on his injured shoulder.
Minutes before Mayo’s press conference, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported this surgery on X.com, calling the shoulder injury “significant.”
Mark Daniels of MassLive reported on Wednesday morning that Andrews had a decision to make when it came down to when to have surgery.
Daniels said on X.com, “If he plays, and it gets worse, it could cost him 2025. If he has the procedure now, it'll cost him the rest of 2024. Tough decision to make.”
It looks like the nine-year veteran opted for surgery now, thus costing him the remainder of the 2024 season.
Andrews is a team captain, and is the longest tenured member of the Patriots offense.
For an offensive line that has struggled mightily through four games, this is a devastating blow for the Patriots.
