FOXBOROUGH -- Nick Folk hasn't kicked in any of the two preseason games, as he missed nearly two weeks of action, but the veteran kicker returned to the practice field Monday.

He spoke following Tuesday's session and was asked what kept him away.

"A little bit of soreness I was trying to take care of it, make sure I’m ready for the season," he said. "I was back out there yesterday, felt good to be there. So just kind of keep going forward, get ready for tomorrow, get ready for this week with the Giants and have fun doing it. It will be good to see Joe [Judge] and [Thomas McGaughey, their special teams coach, and Jason Garrett so it’ll be good to see some of those guys."

Rookie Quinn Nordin kicked in both games and saw extended reps with Folk out. The veteran acknowledged he's pushed him and he views everything as a competition.

"It’s always a competition -- even when you’re by yourself," Folk said. "You have to perform day-in and day-out, so whether he’s here or not or I’m here or not, we’re both trying to improve our position. … I’ve been in a competition just about every year so..."

Based on Nordin's struggles in Philly and Folk seemingly now healthy, it seems like the veteran has won the job.
