Kendrick Bourne, released by the Patriots just before the start of the NFL season, has signed with the San Francisco 49ers, according to a report.
Bourne signed a one-year deal with a maximum value of $5 million, ESPN's Adam Schefter shared on X Monday.
Bourne played four seasons in San Francisco before signing with New England in 2021. He had his best statistical year that season and recorded 800 receiving yards. During his remaining time in Foxboro, he tore his ACL and tallied 305 yards last season.
Per Schefter, he reportedly requested his own release near the end of preseason, information that Patriots coach Mike Vrabel said was "news to me."
The Patriots have a remaining $1.55 million in dead money dedicated to Bourne this year, according to OvertheCap.com.
