Though the full 2021 NFL schedule won’t be released until 8 p.m. on Wednesday night, the league allowed its TV partners to give fans an early taste by announcing Week 1 matchups this morning.
CBS therefore announced that the Patriots will open the season at Gillette Stadium against the Dolphins on Sunday, Sept. 12 at 4:25 p.m.
The game will be a matchup of Bill Belichick and his former defensive assistant Brian Flores, with Miami bringing second-year starting QB Tua Tagovailoa to Foxborough.
Miami finished three games ahead of New England last season in the AFC East with a 10-6 record, though neither team made the playoffs.
