After nine years, it appears Jonathan Jones' days with the New England Patriots are over.
"Source: Veteran cornerback Jonathan Jones to the #Commanders on a one-year deal. After nine years and 11 interceptions in New England, Jones heads to NFC East," ESPN's Jeremy Fowler posted on X Wednesday evening.
Jones, 31, first joined the Patriots in 2016 as an undrafted free agent, and went on to win two Super Bowls. He started his career on special teams and worked his way onto New England's long list of talented defensive backs.
He appeared in a total of 132 games and started 71 during his career with the Patriots.
The Patriots kicked off the first day of free agency with a series of acquisitions on defense, including cornerback Carlton Davis. Davis, 28, agreed to a three-year, $60 million contract, according to NFL Media.
