Breaking: Titans fire Mike Vrabel
The wheels are starting to turn.
The Titans and head coach Mike Vrabel have parted ways, the team announced on Tuesday.
"Earlier today," team owner Amy Adams Struck said in a statement. "I spoke with Mike Vrabel and told him about my decision to make a change at head coach. As I told Coach Vrabel, this decision was as difficult as any I've made as Controlling Owner. I appreciate Mike's contributions to the Tennessee Titans both on and off the field. Anyone who has ever met him knows how passionate and genuine he is, and he's been a strong supporter of the Nashville community. We wish Mike, Jen, and the Vrabel family nothing but the best in the future."
During six seasons in Tennessee, Vrabel brought his team to the playoffs three times, including an AFC Championship Game appearance in 2019. He was named the NFL's Coach of the Year in 2021-22.
Vrabel has been connected to the Patriots' potential head coaching opening in New England, and according to Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz, is "interested" in returning to the team he once played for should they move on from Bill Belichick.
According to multiple reports, Belichick and Patriots ownership met on Monday and will continue to meet in the coming days to discuss the future of the franchise. The availability of Vrabel now adds an extra element to the fold.
