Tom Brady admits that he struggles to balance his personal and professional lives during football season, adding more context to his reported marital issues with Gisele.
On the latest edition of Brady’s “Let’s Go” podcast, the seven-time Super Bowl champion spoke about his struggles to maintain a work-life balance with NBA star Kevin Durant.
Mac Jones criticism is getting out of hand
“I almost look at like a football season like you're going away on deployment for the military,” said Brady. “And it's like, 'Man, here I go again.’”
That admission jives with reporting that Brady’s continued devotion to football is at the crux of his disagreement with Gisele. He retired from the NFL earlier this year, citing a desire to spend more time with his family, only to return 40 days later.
Brady and Gisele have reportedly retained divorce attorneys.
“The reality is, you can really only be authentic to yourself, right?,” said Brady. “Whatever you may say -- 'Ah, man, I want to, you know, make sure I spend a little more time doing this during the season,' the reality is, is when it comes down to it, your competitiveness takes over and as much as you want to have this playful balance with the work balance -- you're going to end up doing exactly what you've always done, which is why you are who you are.”
It sounds like Brady has repeated some version of that line before, perhaps to a therapist, or Gisele herself.
Clearly, it seems as if Brady has undergone some introspection, and came away thinking about football.
“You're going to go, 'How the f— do I get it done?'" he said. "'What do I got to do for my teammates to get it done?’"
The Buccaneers are sitting at 3-3 following a disastrous loss to the Steelers, in which Brady screamed at his offensive linemen on the sidelines. He later posted some encouragement for his teammates on Instagram.
Gisele, meanwhile, was last spotted “liking” a cryptic self-help post on the platform.
