A Loog-ash debate: Should the Giants stick with Danny Dimes, or go Tommy Cutlets as their starter?

Shaun Morash won Round 1 of the Loogash Debate Series with Tommy Lugauer about Mets vs. Yankees, and by the title alone, you could guess that whomever had Daniel Jones as their choice was going to win Round 2.

It was actually closer than that, but as a hint, guys named Tommy stick together…but since Shaun won the toss, here’s his 44-second opening statement on Danny Dimes, a response to the ‘dog bleep’ take Tommy originally had last week that Tommy DeVito should be the starting QB for Big Blue.

“Tommy has painted himself as the power of positivity, but the one athlete in this town, the one athlete on a team you root for that needs your positivity more than ever, is Daniel Jones,” Shaun said. “Off an ACL injury and a neck injury, Daniel Jones, who carried the Giants to the playoffs two years ago, and now has his best set of tackles he will have in his career, and you don't even want to give him an opportunity to start Week 1? What kind of positive fraud are you as a Giants fan? In Daniel we trust, because in DeVito I trusted and you trusted, until the same game happened and he walloped our way out of the playoffs. Positive Tommy, you are no more my friend.”

And the rebuttal of Loogy, he of the Cutlets over Dimes hot take last week:

“Tommy DeVito has untapped potential, and I believe they benched Tommy DeVito last year because they didn't want DeVito-mania being a cloud over Daniel Jones' head,” Loogy said. “Tommy DeVito has things you cannot measure; he has heart, he has toughness and he has the support of the fans. He’s a goodfella, one of us – he got a standing ovation in a preseason game! The fans want DeVito, and as far as Jones goes, the organization is done with this guy. They tried to trade up, Brian Daboll drove down to Death Valley to get Jayden Daniels up here. They're done with Daniel Jones, and Giants fans, you know this: when Jones is gone from here, he will be a backup. Give DeVito a chance. They paid $5 million for Drew Lock, they should’ve flushed it down the toilet because that was a waste. I stand with Tommy DeVito!”

Evan then let Tommy and Shaun go back and forth for two minutes, and Shaun came right back with the Lock signing as further proof there’s no faith in DeVito, while Loogy brought up Jones having to watch Hard Knocks and see how much the Giants apparently hate him…and it just fell apart from there.

You can listen to it all above, but in the interest of completism, Tiki gave it to Lugauer, Evan gave it to Morash in a close one…and the fans, who Tiki said ‘don’t matter in the decision’ of the actual decision, had to break the tie.

E&T chose two youngsters, Chase and Dean – the latter in a Kayvon Thibodeaux jersey, who said Tommy Cutlets is his favorite player – and they were split too (in the obvious way). So it came down to one more unnamed fan, and although he thought Loogy was passionate…the winner was Morash.

BUT WAIT!

“I kind of thought Loogy won the debate, I just wanted to get the crowd involved,” Evan said.

Controversy!
