Kayvon Thibodeaux said on Carmelo Anthony’s podcast that he thinks the Giants should have paid Saquon Barkley before Daniel Jones, which of course did not happen and now Saquon is a free agent.
“What I'm mad about is that Saquon – if you look at the game, the tape, Saquon was responsible for at least 30 percent if our explosive plays,” Kayvon said. “For me, for the integrity of working together and we all believe the same things, I feel like Saquon should have got paid first.”
Not a great look?
“I mean, when you're essentially calling out your general manager and the owner for the business that they are doing, and talking about other teammates money, that's not gonna go over well,” Gio said. “I know he has one of his guys’ backs, but yeah.”
“It's a weird one because he clearly started it by saying he's a fan of Daniel Jones and got interrupted,” Jerry replied.
“I don't think he's knocking Daniel Jones, he's knocking the Giants organization,” Gio shot back, as Jerry noted “he gushed about (the Giants) moments later.”
Boomer’s thoughts?
“I understand what he's saying, and we've sat here for years and said that these running backs are underpaid for what they do, even though they don't make it usually through the season, so he's kind of saying the same things that we have said,” Booms said, “but he's an active player on a roster, a second-year player, and he's questioning some of the decisions that Joe Schoen has made.”
All three guys agree ‘it could’ve been worse’ and the headline looks worse than the context, but you have to be realistic in today’s NFL.
“He's supporting Saquon and look, we all like Saquon, but he plays the wrong position,” Boomer said. “What can I tell you? The running back numbers are just not going to be what they used to be.”
