Like Robert Saleh and the Jets said they would last season, wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is taking receipts this year, and one of them has the Giants written on it.
Hopkins, 31, signed a two-year, $26 million deal with Tennessee after being cut by the rebuilding Cardinals in the offseason, and says he has his eyes set on sticking it to the teams who didn’t have interest in bringing on a five-time Pro Bowler.
“When you’re a player and some people feel like they’re great without you, and then you see what they have on paper, or you see what they do, you mark those games down, as a competitor,” Hopkins said in a feature for GQ. “I can’t wait to play ‘em and, honestly, try my best to crush they ass.
“Detroit Lions, they didn’t want me. Dallas Cowboys didn’t want me. Giants didn’t want me.”
Getting payback will be an issue for Hopkins, considering the Giants just played, and beat, the Titans last season, and now won’t play them this year or next year, meaning Hopkins’ contract will run out by the time New York and Tennessee face off again.
