As more questions swirl regarding their likelihood of drafting a quarterback with their top pick, the Giants are reportedly showing plenty of interest in the top pass rusher in the draft.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Penn State product Abdul Carter had breakfast on Sunday with Brian Daboll in State College, where Carter blossomed into a star and arguably the most talented prospect in this year’s draft. Schefter also added that Carter has a visit scheduled to the Giants facilities on Thursday as the draft inches closer.
In addition, USA Today’s Art Stapleton reported that Carter will “more than likely” be a Giant if the Browns don’t take him with the No. 2 pick.
Should New York wind up with Carter, it would give the team a wildly productive pass rush, as Carter would join last offseason’s big acquisition in Brian Burns and the team’s biggest star in Dexter Lawrence. While some fans may revolt at the idea of this regime once again kicking the can down the road in terms of bringing in a young quarterback to develop, Carter - if available - would be the best player on the board.
Assuming the Titans take Cam Ward, the Giants could have two of Carter, Travis Hunter, and Shedeur Sanders there for the taking with the third overall pick, and they are at least doing their due diligence if Carter is available.
