The last thing the Giants seem to need is another injury to a wide receiver or a returner…and they may have gotten both on Monday, as Dante Pettis was lost for the game with a shoulder injury after muffing a punt return in the second quarter.

Pettis, who was mentioned by special teams coach Thomas McGaughey as a possibility to replace C.J. Board and Jabrill Peppers as a returner, lined up for a Kansas City punt and muffed it at the 15. He tried to recover, but as he did, Pettis appeared to be hit in the left shoulder by a Chiefs defender diving for the ball.
Keion Crossen recovered for Big Blue, but trainers attended to Pettis, who was quickly ruled out for the remainder of the game with a shoulder injury.
The Chiefs punted one more time prior to the half, and the Giants used Kadarius Toney as the return man in that situation. Darnay Holmes was also used to return the second half kickoff.
