The cap-strapped Giants did not get quarterback Mitchell Trubisky in free agency, as he is headed to Pittsburgh, but they did beef up their wide receiver room by re-signing receiver/returner C.J. Board and adding fellow wideout Robert Foster.

Board has been mostly a special-teamer in his two seasons with the Giants, but does have 17 receptions for 183 yards in 24 games (five starts). He spent all of 2020 on the active roster, and in 2021, was called up from the practice squad for each of the first two games before being signed full-time in late-September.

Unfortunately, Board suffered a fractured arm last October 17 against the Rams that put him on injured reserve and cost him the final 11 games, leaving a hole in the Giants’ return game after he had averaged 24.8 yards on 11 kickoff returns.

Foster did not play a down last season, spending preseason time with the Dolphins and regular-season time on Dallas’ practice squad, so his last on-field production was two catches for 37 yards with Washington in 2020. However, he has a Buffalo connection to new head coach Brian Daboll, having spent 2018 and 2019 with the Bills and racking up 30 catches for 605 yards and three touchdowns in 26 games.
