Giants wide receiver Golden Tate was apparently at risk of missing Sunday's game against Washington after he publicly expressed his displeasure over his role in New York's offense.

Tate appeared to be demoted to scout-team offense at Giants practice on Friday, playing the role of dynamic Washington wide receiver Terry McLaurin for Big Blue's defense.

Prior to the practice, coach Joe Judge said he was undecided on Tate's status for Sunday.

"We still have an entire day of practice to go through today, so I'll evaluate everything and make decisions on the back end of today on what we're going to do going through the weekend," Judge said, per SNY.

"I'm going to discuss a lot of possibilities today after practice," Judge said.

The 32-year-old veteran was held out of a Wednesday walkthrough after ESPN cameras appeared to catch him mouthing "throw me the ball" on at least two occasions in the team's Week 8 loss to the Tampa Bay Bucs on Monday Night Football.

It probably didn't help when Tate's wife, Elise, posted and deleted a fiery rant on social media about the lack of touches for her husband.

The Notre Dame product's stint in New York has been mostly disappointing after he signed a four-year, $37.5M deal prior to 2019. Injuries, a PED suspension, and a high-profile on-field brawl with Rams corner Jalen Ramsey have marred Tate's tenure, though he has been productive when healthy and involved in the offense.

Tate has just three catches on only five targets the past two weeks, although two of those receptions went for touchdowns.

Judge is already building a reputation as a no-nonsense coach early in his tenure. In training camp he turned heads for making Giants players run laps for mistakes.
