Jared Goff bested Patrick Mahomes for the second time in as many tries on Thursday night, throwing for 253 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions in a statement win for the Lions.
Keith posted on X, and broached the question on his show later that night, whether Goff is better than the quarterback that will be under center for the Giants on the NFL’s next primetime game.
“Is Jared Goff better than Daniel Jones?” Keith said. “Hmmmm. Something to ponder.”
For Keith, it’s not necessarily a knock on Jones, who still needs to prove his standing among NFL quarterbacks after a career year that saw him throw for 3,200 yards and 15 touchdowns. Jones may not be clearly better than Goff in Keith’s eyes, but Keith believes Jones can do enough to beat the Cowboys on Sunday night.
“I think they can beat them,” Keith said. “If the Lions can go into Arrowhead and beat Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, why can’t the Giants, at home, beat Dak Prescott and an offense led by Marty Schottenheimer with Mike McCarthy calling the plays. It’s Week 1. Anything can happen.
“If the Giants go out on Sunday Night Football…and the whole country is watching, and you find a way to win that game, it can propel you through the whole season.”
