The Giants announced on Thursday afternoon that they have released veteran safety Logan Ryan, as the team continues to shed salary under new general manager Joe Schoen.
Big Blue was reportedly split on deciding what to do about their defensive captain, who would have carried a $12.25 million cap hit and had over $9 million coming his way in salary in 2022.
Ryan labored through one of the worst seasons of his career last season, per Pro Football Focus, and with a new defensive coordinator and head coach in town, the Giants decided it was best to move on.
Finishing his Giants tenure after two seasons, the nine-year veteran took to Twitter to thank the Giants and the fanbase.
