According to reports, Deion Sanders has talked with Jerry Jones and the Cowboys about their head coaching vacancy now that Mike McCarthy is on his way out.
That caused Chris McMonigle’s ears to perk up, as he sees that potential hire opening the door for the Giants to bring in a proven veteran quarterback instead of drafting one this year.
“If that’s the thought process, somehow, Dallas has to acquire Shedeur Sanders in the draft,” C-Mac said, noting that Deion would likely want to draft his son to play quarterback for Dallas. “I think that opens up possibilities for the Giants at No. 3…that could be a very interesting conversation with the Cowboys, because they are picking 12th, far too low to get one of these quarterbacks.
“The main chip to trade is Dak Prescott…is it the craziest thing for the Giants, if Deion Sanders is the head coach of the Cowboys, to trade for Dak Prescott?”
McMonigle has long clamored for Big Blue to finally draft and develop a quarterback, which Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen have wanted to do for years. But things change as opportunities do, and if Prescott is there for the taking, C-Mac would love to see what he can do under center in Daboll’s offense, and what the move could open up for New York to improve elsewhere on the roster as well.
“I would have hated this idea a week ago or two weeks ago…and then I heard John Mara speak. John Mara wants to win now,” C-Mac said. “If you are looking to compete right away…the Giants can be competent next year with Dak Prescott. Yes, questions will still arise if he is a Super Bowl quarterback…but Dak Prescott can win you a hell of a lot of football games. If you can move back to 12th and get more draft capital, and get Dak Prescott to answer your quarterback question for the next five years? Suddenly, the Giants have Dak Prescott, money to spend, Malik Nabers, and more draft capital.”
