As a sports fan, in this case an objective one, Evan Roberts can’t believe there would be any Giants fans out there watching Saquon Barkley ball out for the Eagles, and not have some anger or sadness at a former face of the franchise excelling with a hated rival.
But Shaun Morash says he feels nothing watching Barkley rush for 146 yards and score two touchdowns to further his MVP case with arguably Big Blue’s division rival.
“If you watch the Eagles every week and see Saquon succeed, that part of it should not bother you,” Morash said. “What bothers me is the reaction to it. That’s what gets my blood boiling. Who cares that he’s running wild for the Eagles? Nothing about what the Giants did with him changes the fact that he’s eventually probably going to get hurt, he’s only going to get older…that doesn’t bother me. Let him have a good year for the Eagles. He’s a nice guy.”
Morash gets frustrated about the reactions to Barkley’s success seemingly always being Giants centric much more than Barkley’s production on the field, but Evan can’t see how Big Blue fans watch Barkley become a hero in Philadelphia and not feel a sense of resentment, regardless of whether the decision to move on from the former No. 2 overall pick was the right move or not.
“I don’t know what kind of blood goes through your brains…or what kind of human you are if you weren’t angry and pissed when you watched Saquon Barkley continue to have an MVP season,” Evan said.
“You can understand why he’s not here, but you can also be a human and be upset when a player that was on your team is now on a division rival playing the best football of his career.”
