Russell Wilson signing one-year deal with Giants worth up to $21 million

The Giants appear to have their quarterback, again: per multiple reports, Big Blue is signing Russell Wilson to a one-year deal worth up to $21 million, with $10.5 million guaranteed.

Wilson joins the Giants just days after the team also signed Jameis Winston to a two-year, $8 million deal, and it comes amidst wonder if they were waiting on an Aaron Rodgers decision after Rodgers himself left Russ’ former home, Pittsburgh, without a deal last week.

The 36-year-old is a 10-time Pro Bowler, but his 14th NFL season will see him on his fourth team in five years. He comes to New York after one year with the Steelers, where he missed the first six weeks with a calf issue, but took over as the starter from recent Jets addition Justin Fields in Week 7 and ended up completing 63.7 percent of his passes for 2,482 yards, with 16 TD and five INT, in 11 games. He also added 43 rushes for 155 yards and two scores.

Wilson had spent his first 10 seasons in Seattle, but went to Denver in 2022 and 2023 before moving to Pittsburgh last season. He now comes to New York and is technically part of two Big Apple teams now, as the Yankees still hold his baseball rights after acquiring him from Texas back in 2018.

The Giants now have a full QB room with Wilson, Winston, and a re-signed Tommy DeVito, but they also still own the No. 3 pick in this year’s NFL Draft, which could allow them to add a QB of the future or beef up other positions.
