Sal goes off on Giants first-round draft strategy: 'Dumbest pick they could possibly make'
BT opened Friday’s show by raving about the Giants taking Malik Nabers with the sixth pick in the NFL Draft, praising the addition of a legit playmaker that could finally bring some production and excitement to Big Blue’s offense.
Sal could not have been more on the opposite side of the spectrum.
“It was the dumbest pick they could possibly make,” Sal said. “They should have traded up to get the quarterback they wanted. They didn’t have the stomach to go all in to get Drake Maye, so instead of being smart and trading back and stockpiling picks because they have many needs, they get sucked in to taking another skill position player…and they’re gonna run it back with Daniel Jones.
“It’s a stupid pick…this is as dumb a pick as the Giants could have made.”
Sal doesn’t believe Nabers would be a bust in any way, but simply put, the quarterback situation hasn’t changed, despite needing to, which makes the first round a miss by Joe Schoen and company.
“Your quarterback next year is Daniel Jones,” Sal said. “Good luck with that.”
