Bill Belichick is officially out there for the taking after announcing Thursday afternoon that he and the Patriots have parted ways.

Sal, who is a believer in Brian Daboll, says even the Giants have to at least inquire about the legendary coach’s interest in leading a franchise he has openly adored for decades.

“This is so historic, this coaching carousel, that even if you’re the Giants, with a head coach that I believe in…if you’re the Giants, you have to consider going after Belichick, Harbaugh,” Sal said. “Think about all these names that are out there.

“Any time you have a chance to upgrade, even with Brian Daboll in place. All due respect, he’s been here two years. You can’t compare what Daboll has done, or could potentially do, to what Belichick has done or Harbaugh has done.”

BT wouldn’t move on from Daboll, even if Belichick openly expressed a desire to coach in New York, but Sal says Big Blue at least has to find out about Belichick, or even Harbaugh.

“If you’re any team, including the Giants,” Sal said. “It would be reckless to me to not go out there and at least inquired about these great, all-time head coaches.”
