While Tiki was talking up Daniel Jones during Tuesday’s show, BT countered with a challenge to lay out what Jones does better than another potential veteran quarterback addition, specifically Ryan Tannehill.

What ensued was a spirited debate.

“If you have a young quarterback…this is a 26-year-old who has tons of upside and potential,” Tiki said of Jones. “We saw it this year and saw him become a winner. You guys forget in 2019, his first year, when he threw for 3,000 yards and 24 touchdowns, and they weren’t a good offense.

“Daniel Jones has real potential, and there’s belief that he can be one of the stars of the game…you saw it in moments, you saw it as a leader.”

BT responded by asking what Jones does better than Tannehill, who the Titans could decide to move on from this offseason, though it sounds like that won’t be the case.

“His accuracy,” Tiki responded. “I know people don’t want to talk about his accuracy, but Isaiah Hodgins was catching balls in his gut in full stride…he is an elite athlete. He is a composed leader. Maybe Ryan Tannehill is, I don’t know if he’s a leader though.”

BT then made the case for Tannehill.

“The numbers you give me about Daniel Jones, I can spit back and say Ryan Tannehill has got the same numbers,” BT said. “He threw 33 touchdowns and seven picks a couple years ago, they won the division. I’m just saying, Ryan Tannehill is good.”

Tiki clearly didn’t agree with that argument.

“Don’t revise history,” Tiki said. “In that season, Derrick Henry ran for 2,000 yards that season. I could throw for 4,000 yards if I had a running back that was running for 2,000 yards and there were eight or nine guys in the box every other play.

“Derrick Henry got hurt…tell me Ryan Tannehill’s numbers that season. They were abysmal.”

“They still went 12-5, and he was the quarterback,” BT fired back. “His completion percentage was still over 67 percent, and he threw for 3,800 yards without Derrick Henry. That’s bad?”

“You’re reading stats,” Tiki said. “You’re not watching games…you didn’t watch the Tennessee Titans, I know you didn’t.”

The debate continued, but Tiki and Tierney were clearly at odds when assessing Jones’ worth.

“I watched Ryan Tannehill as a kid and played the Jets two times every season,” BT said. “Daniel Jones had one good year! He threw 15 touchdowns this year! What am I missing here?”
