No matter how the Aaron Rodgers experiment goes in Pittsburgh, 2025 will be the last for the future Hall of Famer.
Rodgers said during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show Tuesday, “Yeah, I'm sure this is it, you know, that’s why we just did a one-year deal.”
This season will be his 21st in the NFL and Rodgers says he is happy to be retiring a Steeler.
“No better place to finish than one of the cornerstone franchises of the NFL with Mike Tomlin and a great group of leadership and great guys in the city that expects you to win,” added Rodgers.
Rodgers added that after 20 years, it’s time to walk away after this season.
“This was really about finishing with a lot of love and fun and peace for the career that I’ve had.”
Rodgers played 18 of those seasons in Green Bay and two with the New York Jets, but he only played a few snaps in 2023 before a serious Achilles injury.
In 2020 and 2021 with Green Bay, Rodgers led the NFL in quarterback rating and won a combined 26 games. In ’20 he completed 70.7% of his passes leading the league in that stat and touchdown passes, 48.
If Rodgers is going to win a second Super Bowl, it’s going to have to happen with the Steelers.
If he does, his first ring will have come from beating Pittsburgh and his second will be from leading them.
