Jets rookie left tackle Mekhi Becton kneeled for the national anthem prior to Gang Green’s game against the Colts in Indianapolis on Sunday – the only Jet to do so.
The rest of the team, including CEO Christopher Johnson, stood with arms linked as Becton kneeled.
It was the first time the Jets had taken the field for the anthem, choosing to stay in the locker room for their opener in Buffalo and home opener against San Francisco.
Per WFAN’s Brian Costello, he Jets have been discussing ways to enact change after police shootings this summer, and canceled one training camp practice in August to have day-long talks. The team has been very vocal about bringing light to social justice issues, as well.
