Boomer: Aaron Rodgers to the Jets is still happening, and will before NFL Draft

Craig Carton made waves earlier this month after predicting that the 49ers would swoop in and derail the Jets’ pursuit of Aaron Rodgers, and Tiki Barber threw another log on that fire earlier this week by saying there was validity to that possibility.

Still, Boomer Esiason isn’t backing down from the belief he has held for months: Rodgers is going to be in New York, and it’s going to happen within the next week.

“At the end of the day, I still firmly believe, and I’m not backing off, that it’s gonna happen, and it will happen relatively soon,” Boomer said.

“I think before the draft. I do believe the Jets and Packers will swap first-round picks. I do think it will be part of the equation.”

The NFL Draft begins Thursday night, so if Boomer’s prediction is correct, Rodgers will be a Jet within the next six days. But, according to reports, the Jets don’t want to deal their first-round pick for Rodgers, though a pick swap could help get it done, though other aspects of the trade will have to be ironed out, like conditional draft picks that don’t hurt Gang Green as much should Rodgers walk away after one season.
