Boomer: If Davante Adams trade to Jets does happen, it would be shortly before season

After watching the latest episode of “Receiver” on Netflix, Boomer is convinced that Davante Adams, despite not saying anything publicly, could be looking to get out of Vegas and be traded from the Raiders.

Boomer has also heard that a deal could in fact happen shortly before the season, and it would be with the Jets, to reunite the star receiver with Aaron Rodgers, his longtime quarterback in Green Bay.

“The dead cap for the Raiders this year is $40 million [if they traded him]. I’m hearing that this is gonna happen - if it does happen - in late August or early September,” Boomer said. “And the cap hit for him is $25 million.

“I’m not sure about why it would take that long, but Davante is never going to come out publicly and say ‘I want to leave the Raiders.’ But you hear in this ‘Receiver’ program, where he says ‘I gotta get out of here before I get killed.’ He says that. That leads the viewer to believe that he wants out of [Vegas]. But I don’t see him saying that publicly…I could see him saying to his agent, much like he did in Green Bay, the same type of thing.”

Rodgers fueled speculation last week after saying he can’t wait to play with Adams “again” while at a golf outing, and Boomer believes there could be something to those comments, and could end up with the Jets getting another standout receiver to go along with Garrett Wilson and Mike Williams.

“I’ll tell you what,” Boomer said. “If they ended up getting Davante Adams, I don’t know how you keep everyone happy.”

Taking a look at the finances, Gio says there is absolutely a financial incentive for the Raiders to deal away Adams, though he believes it would cost the Jets a number of picks.

“[The Raiders] would save, in 2024, $17.5 million if they traded him,” Gio said.
