Boomer: Feeling more and more like Aaron Glenn will be Jets next head coach
The Jets are interviewing Arthur Smith and Bobby Slowik for their head coaching vacancy on Thursday, as the list of candidates continues to grow with the franchise undergoing another makeover.
The candidates span all walks of the NFL, but Boomer Esiason believes things are trending towards the Jets once again going with a defensive coordinator that would be making their head coaching debut.
“To me, it more and more feels like it’s Aaron Glenn,” Boomer said. “He is still coaching, his team could still go to the Super Bowl.”
The Lions defensive coordinator formerly played for the Jets, and according to reports, Gang Green would be his top choice if he were to make the jump to head coach next season. Boomer believes Woody Johnson is running the show when it comes to the head coaching search, and feels that Glenn would be his choice at this moment.
“What I understand about this Jet hiring cycle right now is that Woody's making the decision…Woody, he's trying to find the match made in heaven, I guess,” Boomer said.
“Woody is getting closer to making a decision, and if I had to guess right now, it would be Aaron Glenn.”
