The Patriots grabbed a big win on Monday night despite an ugly offensive performance that included a very frustrated Mac Jones.
Watching the game, Boomer couldn’t help but figure out how the Jets lost two games to New England this season.
“It was painful to watch,” Boomer said. “The Jets are a better team than the Patriots. They are.
“You think about those two games and you watch the Patriots last night, their defense is good but not great, the Jets have the better defense, better wide receivers. Maybe not the better coach, but they have the overall better team.”
The Patriots needed a punt return in the closing seconds to take down the Jets in round two, and capitalized on a painfully inefficient Zach Wilson the first time around. But with the Jets now fighting for their playoff lives, Boomer says the Jets could very well wind up looking back and kicking themselves for failing to solve a very beatable Patriots team…twice.
“What game are the Jets going to look back and rue the day they lost that game? Some may say Minnesota…but it’s both Patriots games, especially the home game,” Boomer said.
“They lost those two games to the Patriots. It’s mind-numbing to me after watching the Patriots last night. It makes me think back to those two games, and where the Jets would be had they just split those games, but they should have won both of them.”
