Woody Johnson told reporters that if the Jets can’t find Zach Wilson a trade partner, they will hang on to the quarterback for next season.
Given Wilson clearly being out of favor with New York, it could create tension if he were to return, especially with the Jets signing Tyrod Taylor to be the backup to Aaron Rodgers.
Boomer isn’t buying that there is any chance Wilson will be back with the team that drafted him next season.
“To me, that’s just a smokescreen,” Boomer said. “Zach Wilson, in my eyes, is not gonna be on this team next year. There’s no way. He is too hyper explosive when it comes to the fanbase.”
Even if the Jets have to sweeten the deal themselves, Boomer is convinced they will make sure Wilson is moved.
“To trade him, they might have to put a draft pick with him,” Boomer said. “And the other team accepts his contract, but gets a draft pick with it.”
