BT & Sal take issue with 'tone deaf' Sauce Gardner after game-sealing interception

Sauce Gardner sealed the Jets win on Sunday afternoon by recording his first interception since 2022 after Mac Jones airmailed a pass that found its way right to Gardner’s hands in the final minute of the fourth quarter.

After the game, Gardner said that the game-sealing pick was up there with the night he got drafted as top career moments, which BT and Sal felt was a bit too much given how the season has gone, and Gardner’s season individually.

“This is how far ‘Soft’ Gardner has fallen as a rising defensive staple and star,” BT said. “I’m not trying to strip away the man’s enjoyment…when you always lose and then you win, I want you to enjoy it. But the elevation…this is how far it’s fallen, not just for him, but for them.”

Sal was in full agreement, and didn’t want to hear Gardner talk about how “a lot of people hate on me” after the game, especially with Gardner having a rough season and the Jets sitting at 4-10 and eliminated from playoff contention. Sal is fine with Gardner enjoying his moment, but believed he took his postgame comments too far.

“Just tone deaf,” Sal said. “He made it like ‘Oh, people are doubting me, and to be able to go out there and make this big play,’ dude, he basically threw it right to you. Mac Jones stinks, the Jaguars stink, you stink, your team stinks, and you’re talking how this is right up there with the draft?

“I thought Sauce went a little over the top there.”
