C-Mac: Aaron Rodgers deserves blame for Jets penalties, 'disconnect' with Garrett Wilson

Chris McMonigle thought the Jets looked like a nightmare offensively in Sunday’s loss to the Broncos, a nightmare that looked too familiar to what fans were used to seeing when Zach Wilson was under center.

From performances on the field to game planning by the coaching staff, C-Mac says it was a flat-out disaster on Sunday, regardless of any role the wet weather played.

“The offensive line got its ass kicked. Breece Hall was terrible in this game,” C-Mac said. “How about going to your bigger back Allen at the goal line?”

But C-Mac didn’t put Aaron Rodgers above any blame, as he believed the future Hall of Famer took a big step back from last week’s performance against the Patriots, and says there are clear problems on offense that Rodgers has a part in.

“Aaron Rodgers was as inaccurate as I’ve ever seen him. It’s on him too. He was terrible in this game,” C-Mac said.

“Why is there such a disconnect between [Garrett] Wilson and Rodgers right now? Why is that not the connection we thought it would be? Why did he have better games with Zach Wilson at quarterback?

“Why are [Allen] Lazard and [Mike] Williams the go-to targets? Why is Wilson not the No. 1 target?”

Wilson hasn’t made more than five receptions in a game since the season opener, and he still hasn’t eclipsed the 60 receiving yards he accrued in that Week 1 loss. C-Mac says that is as much on Rodgers as it is on Wilson, as the 40-year-old veteran should prioritize getting in sync with his stud wideout.

Furthermore, C-Mac says Rodgers should take blame for the endless penalties at the line of scrimmage that helped doom the Jets on Sunday.

“Why the hell has he not developed a better communication with his stud wide receiver?” C-Mac said. “Why the hell has he not stopped the pre-snap penalties that I thought a Super Bowl MVP quarterback would put an end to?”
