Craig wants Jim Harbaugh as Jets head coach, wants no part of Sean Payton

Craig Carton isn’t calling for Robert Saleh’s job after the Jets’ season fell apart down the stretch, resulting in another year without playoff football, but if Jim Harbaugh is there for the taking, then he would make the change in a heartbeat.

“I’m firing him because I want Jim Harbaugh…I want Jim Harbaugh because he’s better,” Craig said during Friday’s show. “Harbaugh is a proven commodity, and I’m going with that because I’m sick of losing…he’s the only guy on the planet I would make a coaching change for today.

“Five years, $15 million. Jim Harbaugh. Let’s go.”

Harbaugh has reportedly expressed interest in returning to the NFL head coaching ranks after leading Michigan to a College Football Playoff appearance, and didn’t inspire much hope in Wolverines fans after releasing a statement that read, “I expect” to return to Michigan. If Harbaugh wants to move back up to the NFL, Criag says the Jets are a more attractive destination than the Broncos, even if Gang Green’s quarterback situation is seemingly in shambles.

“Jets! The Jets aren’t saddled with a $200 million aging quarterback who is untradeable,” Craig said. “I’m Jim Harbaugh. That’s what I do. He won with Alex Smith, Colin Kaepernick.”

Evan threw some other Super Bowl winning head coaches Craig’s way that could also be looking for a job this offseason, but Craig only wants Harbaugh. It’s Harbaugh, or run it back with Saleh.

“I think Sean Payton is one of the most overrated had coaches in the history of the NFL,” Craig said. “He’s exactly the same guy as Mike McCarthy, and Mike McCarthy is maligned…I’ll say it again, I want Jim Harbaugh to be the head coach of the New York Jets.”
