Boomer: Dalvin Cook signing will make Jets running backs 'ticked off and unhappy'

The Jets made more noise this offseason, signing Dalvin Cook to a one-year deal to bolster their backfield with a Pro Bowler to line up behind Aaron Rodgers.

Of course, Cook’s arrival means the rest of the running back room will be bumped down the depth chart, and Boomer believes the team’s rushers, aside from Breece Hall, will make it known that they are not happy with the signing.

“I was pretty impressed with the way they ran against Carolina,” Boomer said. “It was motivation to have Dalvin Cook hanging out there. now that he’s gonna be brought into that room, don’t think for a minute that those guys aren’t waking up today, and - not out of disrespect for Dalvin - but they’re probably ticked off. They’re gonna be ticked off and unhappy.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if you get a little bit of that verbalization that you hear from those guys, that they’re unhappy, and they should be.”

The Michael Carters and Bam Knights of the Jets running back room will likely lose touches as a result of Cook signing, and Boomer believes it will cause some frustration in the clubhouse, which Robert Saleh will have to manage.

“This guy isn’t coming in here to back these guys up,” Boomer said. “He’s coming in here to start and be a major part of this offense.”
