The Jets secondary had a tough task on Sunday in guarding Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson, and on one play during the first half, Jefferson hauled in a grab before Jordan Whitehead came in with a heavy hit, leading with his shoulder into Jefferson’s shoulder.

Whitehead was flagged on the play with a personal foul, and NFL Twitter couldn’t believe it.

Fans, to analysts, to current players ripped the penalty call, which resulted in a first-and-goal for the Vikings, on a catch that would have been a first down regardless by Jefferson. But the extra yardage was a killer for the Gang Green defense, and in the eyes of many on NFL Twitter, an indictment on the current state of football.

Even Bills safety Jordan Poyer ripped the call that went against his divisional rival, saying the league should just play flag football at this point.
