One of the anchors of the Jets defense over the past five years is calling it a career.
Linebacker CJ Mosley told CBS Sports on Thursday that he is retiring from the NFL after a 10-year career that included five Pro Bowl selections, most recently in 2022 when he was playing his best football with Gang Green.
The All-Pro and former first-round pick spent five seasons in New York beginning in 2019, though he didn’t play his first full season with the Jets until 2021 after opting out of the 2020 campaign due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In that 2021 campaign, Mosley logged a career-high 103 solo tackles and 65 assists on tackles, along with two forced fumbles.
A year later, Mosley started all 17 games and was named to the All-Pro team for the fifth time.
Mosley only appeared in four games last season as he battled a neck injury, and was released in March.
The former Ravens standout calls it a career on his 33rd birthday.
Before the NFL, Mosley won consecutive national championships with Alabama, and was the SEC Defensive Player of the Year in 2013.
